Impressions:
This comes about as close to an ideal crystallization of Miyazaki's passions as you can get. About the only thing that's missing is a Green Aesop, not that I can see how one of those would've been reasonably integrated into the story (and apparently, neither could he). If you're a fan of aviation, particularly from the interwar period, you should appreciate all the work that's gone into it. There really are some great flight sequences and interesting character dynamics. As you've no doubt come to expect from Studio Ghibli, the animation quality and Joe Hisaishi score won't disappoint. It's another fine entry in Miyazaki's filmography and well worth adding to your collection.
