Leprechaun 4: In Space (1996)
Director: Brian Trenchard-Smith
Starring: Warwick Davis, Brent Jasmer, Jessica Collins
Synopsis:
A squad of Space Marines under orders of a mad scientist battle the Leprechaun and save an alien princess.
Impressions:
If the title doesn't have you going Whiskey Tango Hotel, then the above synopsis is sure to have that effect. This plays out much like a bad SyFy Original movie, but I won't say that this is a total loss. Honestly, some of the performances are so over the top that they're rather entertaining. Besides the reliably consistent Warwick Davis, Guy Siner is pretty fun as mad Dr. Mittenhand. I also liked the contrast of Princess Zarina here to Bridget in the second movie as a prospective bride for the Leprechaun. Having an evil partner for our main baddie adds to the entertainment value. The CG is bad art school final project quality, but the practical stuff is passable. You might be able to get some entertainment value out of the movie (I was), but most people will probably want to pass.
