Impressions:
Ah, a Christmas classic that I remember fondly from when I was a kid and still find it to hold up today. In the role that made him famous, Macaulay Culkin brings a lot of charm to the role of Kevin McCallister. You have to wonder who thought it was a good idea to cast Joe Pesci in a kid's movie, but he helps bring some genuine menace to the bumbling duo of thieves while Daniel Stern is more of the harmless comedy villain you would expect from such a film. The highlight is of course the extended sequence where the bad guys navigate the gauntlet of traps laid out for them, which ended up being copied ad nauseum throughout the 90s. It's also worth noting the memorable score, by none other than John Williams himself. It's good fun for the whole family and I can easily see it being a part of your Christmas tradition. Get it for the collection.
