Cyborg Cop (1993)
Director: Sam Firstenberg
Starring: David Bradley, John Rhys-Davies, Todd Jensen
Synopsis:
A former DEA agent ventures to the Caribbean in search of his brother.
Impressions:
Contrary to what the title might suggest, this movie isn't about a cyborg cop. Neither are the sequels. Now, you might call this a critical flaw in the franchise, and I can't really disagree with you. This would be a fairly forgettable B action movie if it weren't for John Rhys-Davies as main villain Kessler. He has a lot of fun in the role and is entirely responsible for the rating you see below. David Bradley is an okay martial artist with decent action chops, but his character Jack Ryan (not that Jack Ryan) is often needlessly confrontational, starting up fight scenes when they're really not called for. Alonna Shaw isn't great as the love interest, partially due to her acting but more on account of the writing. Anyway, as I said earlier, it's John Rhys-Davies who makes this movie and he's entirely the reason I recommend giving this one a watch.
