Opposing Force (1986)

Director: Eric Karson
Starring: Tom Skerritt, Lisa Eichhorn, Anthony Zerbe

Synopsis:
A female Air Force lieutenant participates in a SERE training exercise that crosses the line.

Impressions:
Although I didn't realize what it was at the time, I remember a big exposé about SERE training that went too far. That report actually came about ten years after this movie, but I made the connection in my head. The main reason I decided to check out this movie was on account of Tom Skerritt, who's quite good as Major Logan. Other notables include Anthony Zerbe as the prison camp commandant Becker and Richard Roundtree as his second, Sergeant Stafford. Lisa Eichhorn isn't bad as Lieutenant Casey. The premise is interesting enough, but this isn't a great movie. It's fairly watchable, though, so give it some thought, but you won't have much to cry over if you look elsewhere.
