Frantic (1988)

Director: Roman Polanski
Starring: Harrison Ford, Betty Buckley, Emmanuelle Seigner
Synopsis:
The wife of a doctor in Paris for a medical conference disappears and when both the police and the American embassy do not do enough to find her, he takes matters into his own hands.
Impressions:
While this is classified as a thriller, it doesn't rely on keying up the tension for the most part. It takes its time slowly building up and unraveling the mysteries around Mrs. Walker's disappearance. There's definitely menace along the way, but it stays at a fairly low simmer until the third act, which is an interesting approach. Compare with more recent films like Taken and Unknown. I also want to make a note of the score by Ennio Morricone. It's a solid film and definitely worth watching.
