Impressions:
What is it with me catching these cheesy action movies out of sequence? Well, there's no deep lore that makes this film inaccessible to anyone who hasn't seen the first outing. It's really not that good of a movie, but it's so silly that I found it rather enjoyable. I honestly preferred Steve James' character to Michael Dudikoff, but he apparently isn't the eponymous American Ninja. The villains' plot seemed a bit muddled, but I did appreciate Mike Stone as Tojo Ken, pretty much the only competent fighter on the bad guys' side. If you like the kind of B movies the Cannon Group is known for, you should find enough here to make it worth watching, but if you have a low tolerance for sub-optimal films, you'd do just as well to pass on it.
