Impressions:
I was doing some research on the background of Fire in the Sky and learned that before his abduction experience, Travis Walton saw this movie on TV. That little factoid plus James Earl Jones playing the role of Barney Hill was enough for me to change my original plans and add this to the week's viewing. More than an alien abduction story, this is a character study of a mostly loving couple dealing with a number of hangups that are severely damaging them both individually and as a couple. Is the alien abduction real or is it just a way for their subconsciouses to crystallize all their fears and anxieties? The movie never answers it one way or another, but I rather prefer it that way. James Earl Jones and Estelle Parsons pour a lot into their performances, far more than you would expect for a made-for-TV movie, and for those performances alone, this is well worth checking out.
