Synopsis:
British officer TE Lawrence is assigned to the Hashemite Prince Feisal to help coordinate the Arab revolt against the Turks during World War I.

Impressions:
What can I possibly say about a movie like this? With its reputation and gallons of ink spilled by more talented and knowledgeable people than myself, I don't think there's much I can add or subtract from the discussion. This is a grand epic with some of cinema's finest performers bringing their A-game to an amazing score. While this wasn't Peter O'Toole's first role, it was the first major role and he avails himself well as the complex character of Lawrence. I'd also like to acclaim the performances of Omar Sharif as Ali, Sir Alec Guinness as Feisal, and Anthony Quinn as Auda Abu Tayi.

This movie is controversial on a number of levels, such as historical accuracy, allegedly defamatory portrayals of the people involved, etc. If any of these things are deal-breakers for you, then it's probably best to stay away and not get worked up over it. Perhaps you can use this as a springboard for discussion. I will say that I believe the movie deserves its accolades and I encourage you to see it.
