Impressions:
If I have to pick an animated film about cats in France, I'd probably go with The Aristocats first, but this isn't a bad film by any stretch. I like Chuck Jones' work and the story here is solid, but what really makes this movie stand out is all its references to art and artists big in France during the latter part of the 19th Century and the early 20th Century. One of the highlights of the film is a montage of portraits of Mewsette done in the styles of various major artists like Monet, Van Gogh, Degas, etc. It's a lot of fun for art students. It can be a bit rough around the edges at times, but it's nevertheless worth a watch.
