Dracula: Prince of Darkness (1966)

Dracula: Prince of Darkness (1966)

Director: Terence Fisher
Starring: Christopher Lee, Barbara Shelley, Andrew Keir

Synopsis:
Four English travelers wander into Dracula's castle and are used as the key to his resurrection.

Impressions:
The Hammer Dracula movies have a reputation for going steadily downhill, but while this is indeed inferior to the first entry in the series, it's nevertheless a solid film, doing a good job of building the suspense until Dracula's resurrection. While I do like Andrew Keir as the warrior monk Father Sandor, he's no Peter Cushing, and not giving Christopher Lee even a single line of dialog criminally underutilizes his talents, though his daunting stage presence doesn't need any words. While not great, it's still worth watching.
