Bureau of Missing Persons (1933)

Bureau of Missing Persons (1933)

Director: Roy Del Ruth
Starring: Bette Davis, Lewis Stone, Pat O'Brien

Synopsis:
A brutish policeman is transferred to the Bureau of Missing Persons, where he has to adapt to a very different way of doing policework.

Impressions:
There's something interesting about having a bunch of B plots to really give you a sense of the day-to-day workload of the Bureau of Missing Persons, but the main character is terribly unlikeable, which absolutely murders any investment I might have in an already lackluster story. It's a pre-Code film, so you do get more of an unvarnished look at the 30s, but there are plenty of other, better pre-Code films out there. Maybe you'd like to give it a try, but if you don't, you're not missing much.
