Yakumo-san wa Ezuke ga Shitai (2020)
[八雲さんは餌づけがしたい]
Volume 9
Author/Artist: Satomi U
Publisher: Young Gangan Comics
Synopsis:
Yamato-kun plans to buy a cake for Yakumo-san's birthday.
Story/Characters:
Are you ready for more of Ship Tease: The Series? The birthday chapter is sweet and as it gets colder, Yakumo-san decides to take up knitting again, which leads into the amusing Christmas chapter, where she starts agonizing over her decision to make a scarf for Yamato-kun. Before we get to the Christmas chapter through, we have ham and Polaroids (it makes sense in context), Yakumo-san trying to take up jogging, and her getting her wires crossed a bit with Yamato-kun and her late husband. There's also a somewhat racy chapter where Rui responds to a friend having an intimate problem with a boyfriend who defies the stereotypes about Asian men. Rui, being Rui, is quite the blatant pervert about the whole thing and it's interesting seeing a female character in the sukebe role, particularly given how subdued Yamato-kun is. I don't really consider it a spoiler to say that there are no major developments. Still playing footsie and so long as you're not obsessed with the endgame, that's just fine.
Art:
You know what to expect from the art at this point, generally quite good with occasional wonkiness. In case you were concerned, the visuals in the Rui chapter are fairly restrained.
Other:
The bonus chapter has Yakumo-san jogging with Yuri when Yuri notes that Yakumo-san isn't quite properly equipped.
Conclusion:
Readers of the series should be fairly well-accustomed with what to expect by this point. If you enjoy the slice-of-line tale that skirts the line between platonicism and romance, you'll like what you get here. Give it a read.
