We Never Learn (2020)
[γΌγγγ‘γ―εεΌ·γγ§γγͺγ]
Volume 16
Author/Artist: Taishi Tsutsui
Publisher: Jump Comics
Synopsis:
Yuiga and Kurisu-sensei take cover in a storeroom after getting caught in the rain.
Story/Characters:
We start off with a Sensei chapter with a focus on how she's changed recently, then we get a Senpai chapter where the clinic gets a visit by the maid cleaning service. Next is Setsubun, where we get a couple oni to torment poor Yuiga. After that is a Furuhashi chapter where she comes to terms with her feelings (but what she does with those feelings remains an open question). We then have a Valentine's two-parter that's primarily focused on Takemoto. Next is the lead-up to the final exams, the day of the big test itself (again, with a primary focus on Takemoto), and then the results. We close on a dynamite cliffhanger that may well be setting the stage for the endgame. I rather doubt the series will continue into the college years, so things are likely to be resolved in another volume or two.
Art:
The art maintains the standard you've come to expect. If cry cute is your thing, you'll get plenty of that here as everyone gets all weepy over the final exams and a few other points. Also, the Setsubun chapter has Oni Rizurin. Outstanding. Also, there's the reveal with Uruka's interviewer.
Conclusion:
There are a lot of big emotional notes this volume and the results of the final exams is what we've been building up to all this time. Now all that remains is the resolution of the romantic plot and it looks like we have the lead-in to that with the cliffhanger. Fans should be more than satisfied with what they get. This one is worth having.
