Yakumo-san wa Ezuke ga Shitai (2019)
[八雲さんは餌づけがしたい]
Volume 8

Author/Artist: Satomi U
Publisher: Young Gangan Comics
Synopsis:
Yakumo-san makes an improvised breakfast buffet for Yamato-kun with her leftovers.
Story/Characters:
I find myself having a hard time talking about the story this volume. Mostly because the author continues to play footsie with us regarding Yakumo-san and Yamato-kun's relationship, it's hard to say we're making any progress. Particularly while Yamato-kun is still in high school, I feel it's better to keep things ambiguous, but we're left wondering what's the actual goal here. Is this actually meant to be a romance or is it supposed to be more platonic with just some shades of romance? Because comic book time doesn't apply here, things are likely to come to a head as Yamato-kun approaches graduation. What will it mean? Who knows? I guess we'll see. In the meantime, just enjoy the slice-of-life goodness that's the series' hallmark.
Art:
The art maintains the level you've come to expect. Interestingly enough, while I noticed an increase in fanservicey shots in the previous volume, here it's more restricted to the title pages for each chapter (and, boy, do some of them really pack some punch).
Other:
We get an omake with Rui and Ritsuko and the tapioca drinks that have been so popular in Japan lately.
Conclusion:
This is a decent continuation of the story. Maybe it's just me, but it feels a bit like we're spinning our tires, but maybe I'm expecting too much. It's still worth a read and I think fans will be more or less content with what we get.
