Yakumo-san wa Ezuke ga Shitai (2016)
[八雲さんは餌づけがしたい]
Volume 2
Author/Artist: Satomi U
Publisher: Square Enix
Synopsis:
Yakumo-san and Yamato-kun learn more about each other as their relationship expands beyond the dinner table.
Story/Characters:
As the series is mostly slice of life, don't expect much in the way of major plot events, but we do get a number of nice episodes with our cast. What I particularly like is that we see Yamato-kun thinking more about Yakumo-san's feelings, developing him into more than just this black hole for the food she cooks. (Having him take care of her when she catches a cold is a nice touch.) We also see Yamato-kun "noticing" Yakumo-san more, which is ship teasing at the very least but could indicate a move in a more romantic direction. We'll see if the author dares to go down that rabbit hole or not. If she works at the same pace as Rumiko Takahashi in Maison Ikkoku, Yamato-kun'll be 20 by the time they actually do anything, so I guess it'll be fine. ^o^
Art:
The art continues to be solid with all the points I noted in the first volume. I'll admit that there are occasional instances of wonkiness in proportion and such but nothing that really detracts from the overall appeal. This volume is a little more fanservicey than the previous one, but it's still pretty mild compared to many other series.
Other:
We get a special bonus chapter showing Yakumo-san preparing for her first time inviting Yamato-kun over plus a number of 4-koma.
Conclusion:
There are a number of nice episodes that further develop Yakumo-san and Yamato-kun's relationship (which is still on the up and up), so if the first volume got you hooked, you should be quite pleased with this.
