Synopsis:
Dr. Maiko plans a terror attack with the aid of his latest purchase from Claude.
Story/Characters:
Dr. Maiko's latest plot involves a gas that turns people into children. Because they had just finished a mission and the others are exhausted, Onodera goes it alone and gets exposed to the gas. In child form, she finds herself teaming up with Raku to stop the mad doctor's plot. Next we have Paula transferring to Haru's school. Haru befriends her and takes her home with her, where Onodera and the others are. Hijinx ensue as they try to keep Paula from cottoning on to who they are. After that, Tsugumya decides to buy a magic stick that will allow Chitoge to transform into the sort of frilly magical girl she's always dreamed of being, but of course it comes with a catch. Next, Onodera mistakenly eats some chocolates with alcohol in them and this creates duplicates of her representing suppressed aspects of her personality. We then have Paula make a purchase of Claude in a bid to steal the bust size of one of the girls. Lastly, there's a two-parter at an onsen, where Haru gets magical girl powers of her own, but due to some misunderstandings, she declares herself the enemy of Kosaki-chan.
Art:
Little Patissiere is adorable. This should surprise no one. Also, I love her deadpan stare when Dr. Maiko reveals the plan behind the CBK gas. The Kosaki-chan variants are neat. My money's on Megane de Kuudere Kosaki-chan. It probably says something about me, but in the Paula chapter when the girls have an imagine spot about what would happen if Paula got her hands on them, while they were looking dreadful, all I could think was, "I fail to see the problem here." ^o^; As for the onsen two-parter, I'd love to know how you get away with wearing glasses in an onsen, but I see Onodera wearing her glasses in a lot of occasions where normal glasses-wearers wouldn't be wearing their glasses. I mean, I like seeing her with the glasses on and everything, but we have to think about practicality, don't we? *ahem* Anyway, I have to wonder about the youngest member being given the most stripperific magical girl costume (one that melts when exposed to heat, no less), but whatever.
Other:
We get another congratulatory note from Komi, this time with an illustration of Paula.
Conclusion:
The Little Patissiere chapters were the highlight of this volume with some nice bonding between Onodera and Raku. The split Kosaki-chan chapters were also nice for further exploring Onodera's psychology and the debut of Magical Chocolatier Haru-chan adds a new layer to the conflict. As with the previous volumes, it makes for a decent read, so give it a read.
