We Never Learn (2018)
[γΌγγγ‘γ―εεΌ·γγ§γγͺγ]
Volume 5
Author/Artist: Taishi Tsutsui
Publisher: Jump Comics
Synopsis:
Things have become awkward between Yuiga and Takemoto, so both of them go to Furuhashi for help.
Story/Characters:
I like Furuhashi in her matchmaker role, so our first chapter here gets her doing that. We next get a fun chapter with Ogata and scary movies. We follow it with Furuhashi's culinary talents, and I imagine you can guess how that pans out. Next is a summer festival two-parter. The first chapter balances screentime, but the second one is Furuhashi-focused and what I would argue is one of the key episodes in the development of their relationship. We follow that with a Senpai chapter focusing on their masquerade, then one with Kurisu-sensei that marks the debut of her placid driving style. We finally bookend with another Takemoto chapter, this one more centered on her swimming rather than her relationship with Yuiga.
Art:
The art continues to be good as ever. If you like yukata fanservice, there's the summer festival chapters and then we've got Kurisu-sensei in her old school uniform in her chapter.
Other:
We get a bonus chapter of how Yuiga and Takemoto first met back in middle school.
Conclusion:
We get a range of chapters this volume. They're all generally good, but the episodic nature of the series isn't the storytelling style I prefer. I'd like to see more tangible progression, but there's nothing wrong with enjoying the moment for what it is. It's worth reading at the very least.
