Yotsuba&! - Volume 8 (2008)

Author/Artist: Kiyohiko Azuma
Publisher: Dengeki Comics

Synopsis:
Yotsuba participates in a local festival.

Story/Characters:
The bunkasai alluded to in the previous volume leads to some good humor both before and after. Given the standards of Japanese propriety, the chapter where Yotsuba plays the opposite game is particularly funny as well. Most of the focus is on the matsuri, which is particularly nice as a bit of culture. Although it hasn't gone anywhere yet, establishing a potential romantic rivalry between Jumbo and Yanda over Asagi might prove interesting. Oh, and the rainy day chapter has one of the best endings in the series so far. ^o^

Art:
We get some cool stuff for the matsuri in particular, but I also liked the depiction of the heavy rain in Chapter 52. You know the general thrust of how I fell about the art and that high opinion isn't going to change.

Conclusion:
This is another fine addition to the series with some of my favorite scenes. There's just as much to love here now as ever. Pick this one up.
