Yotsuba&! - Volume 6 (2006)

Author/Artist: Kiyohiko Azuma
Publisher: Dengeki Comics

Synopsis:
Yotsuba learns about recycling and gets a bicycle.

Story/Characters:
The chapter where Yotsuba tries her hand at recycling is pretty funny, but the real joy comes in all the (mis)adventures with her new bicycle (particularly her biking expedition with Asagi and Tora). Here in the States the same scenario would be terrifying, but Japan's a whole lot safer, not that she doesn't give Koiwai a good spook with her antics. While Koiwai does have a bit of a light hand as a parent, when Yotsuba crosses the line, he does discipline her in a way that gets the point across without being too harsh. It's really interesting to watch his parenting style at work. Related to that, Azuma really pegs the sort of randomness kids get into.

Art:
Azuma's high quality standard holds true here. There are some rather good expressions in this one, but that's always been a talent of his.

Conclusion:
This is another highly enjoyable entry in a highly enjoyable series. As always, you'll be wanting to add this to your collection.
