Fire Emblem: Sword of the Conqueror (2003)
[ファイアーエムブレム 覇者の剣]
Volume 5
Author: Hiroshi Izawa
Artist: Kotaro Yamada
Publisher: Jump Comics
Synopsis:
Al joins up with Roy's forces to liberate the Western Isles.
Story/Characters:
It's really nice having Roy's party join the fray. The focus remains on Al's group, but it gets pretty well established that he's a supporting protagonist, which actually presages the My Unit characters of FE12, 13, and 14. We also get the debut of Jemmie, Zeed's sister and a rather formidable witch. The battle at the praetorium escalates nicely and we get decent setup for the next arc.
Art:
We get a lot of action this volume that is rather well done, especially the big fight with the dragon. Jemmie's pretty cute, so that's something.
Other:
We get character sheets for Jemmie, Roy and Kilmer; a couple omake comics, some fanart, a Q&A column, and a two-page spread of sketches of charas from FE7.
Conclusion:
This is a solid entry in the series, in no small part due to Roy's party coming into play, which is a particularly a draw for fans of the game. This one's definitely worth a read.
