Ranma 1/2 (1992)
[らんま1/2]
Volume 20
Author/Artist: Rumiko Takahashi
Publisher: Shounen Sunday Comics
Synopsis:
Ryouga returns with a new technique to defeat Ranma. The bakeneko kidnaps Shampoo in a second attempt to make her his bride. Ranma tries to help the spirit of an old man find peace. When the Kunou siblings start warring, Ranma is caught in the middle.
Story/Characters:
We haven't seen Ryouga get a significant power upgrade since the Bakusai Tenketsu, but the Shishi Houkoudan gives Ranma a run for his money. Though not quite as good as the earlier take on this kind of story, I still liked it, even if you feel really bad for Ryouga in the end. The return of the bakeneko is okay. I liked the astral projecting old man one-shot for the punchline. I feel neutral about the Kunou story. If you like to see Kunou and Kodachi, you might enjoy it.
Art:
The Ranma/Ryouga fight has some good visuals, but more important than that, we have nekomimi Shampoo. What more do you need?
Conclusion:
There are some good stories here. By no means the series' best, but definitely worth reading. Ryouga is in dire need of a hug, though.
