Macross 7 Trash (1998)
[マクãƒã‚¹7 トラッシュ]
Volume 6
Author/Artist: Haruhiko Mikimoto
Publisher: Kadokawa Comics A
Synopsis:
After Hublot's crushing defeat at the hands of Jebiru Luk Sol, it will be Movado's turn to face her next.
Story/Characters:
Back in Volume 2, I said Hublot was kinda pointless, but I guess he does serve a purpose. They establish him as such an aggressive T-Crush player so we can know that Jebiru is bad news when he gets stomped into the ground. Although, by comparison, building up a little something between Movado and Jebiru makes their match more interesting. Making Jebiru Meltrandi works well with the whole Mind System thing and plays out much as you'd expect. We start going into some stuff about Spiritia, which links us back to the main series, but it's almost like they're not applying what was learned with the whole Protodevlin mess. Anyway, we have some decent buildup to Shiba's match with Jebiru.
Art:
You know I've got nothing bad to say about the art. The Movado-Jebiru match gives us some quality action. The portrayal of Jebiru's decline is also rather effective.
Other:
We get another fairly pointless intermission with Hoshimaru. I have to wonder, though. If Enika got so mad at him for peeping at her in the shower last time, why is she flashing him now? I guess I just don't understand some pet owners...
Conclusion:
I'll admit that this is an improvement over the last volume as far as storytelling goes. Maybe with such a large chunk of it being the Movado-Jebiru match helped. If you've been sticking with the series this far, I can honestly say this one is well enough worth a read.
