Minority Report (2002)

Director: Steven Spielberg
Starring: Tom Cruise, Max von Sydow, Steve Harris

Synopsis:
The chief of a police agency that uses psychics to apprehend murderers before they commit their crimes finds himself accused of murdering someone he never met.

Impressions:
After the turn of the century, I stopped following Steven Spielberg's work as closely as I used to. As a result, this one completely passed me by, but when the opportunity presented itself, I gave it a shot. It's a pretty good action thriller with some decent realization of the future world the story takes place in. Tom Cruise is solid in the lead role and Max von Sydow was also quite good as Anderton's mentor Director Burgess. One of the set pieces looks like it came straight out of Attack of the Clones (which was released the same year and was probably a deliberate nod to friend and frequent collaborator George Lucas). The John Williams score is probably the best part of the movie. If you close your eyes during the chase sequence, you might think you're in an Indiana Jones film. It's far from the top of my list in any category, but I think it's good enough to warrant a watch.
