Master of the World (1961)

Director: William Witney
Starring: Vincent Price, Charles Bronson, Henry Hull
Synopsis:
An agent from the Department of the Interior and a trio of civilians are taken captive by the captive of an armed airship on a mission to end war.
Impressions:
This is basically 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea but in the air. In fact, it's so close that I almost didn't believe it was based on a separate book. As a result, it doesn't feel like I have much to talk about. Vincent Price is good as Nemo, er, I mean, Robur, and I liked Charles Bronson as Strock. The characters of Prudent and Evans were complete garbage, but that was kinda the point. I've never liked the high and mighty types who think they're some sort of moral titans by using overwhelming force to rid the world of war (part of the reason I could never enjoy Gundam 00), but sadly, no one calls out Robur on his hypocrisy and gross misunderstanding of human nature. It's not a bad movie, though. Give it a watch.
