Curious George (2006)

Synopsis:
The Man in the Yellow Hat accidentally picks up a simian companion on an expedition to Africa in search of an ancient idol to serve as a new exhibit at the failing museum he works at.

Impressions:
I remember seeing the trailer for this and being heartened to see a 2D animated feature in a time when all the animation studios were going CG. I didn't actually see it in the theaters, though. I suppose you could chide me for not putting my money where my mouth is, but it takes a fair bit to get me to actually go out the theaters. Anyway, setting all that aside, this is a pretty good movie, certainly appropriate for family fare, with a few funny parental bonuses, but the story does hit some trite notes common to stories of this kind, which cost it a few points in my book. All in all, it's entirely watchable and if you want to see something with the kids, you could do worse.
