White Witch Doctor (1953)
Director: Henry Hathaway
Starring: Susan Hayward, Robert Mitchum, Walter Slezak
Synopsis:
A nurse arrives in Africa and is escorted by an adventurer who is secretly searching for the treasure of a secretive tribe.
Impressions:
Compare this movie with King Solomon's Mines. One of the key elements that made that film worthwhile was the fact that it was shot on location. For this movie, however, there was footage shot in Africa, but most of it was done on the Fox backlot. This leaves us with little and less. It's okay, but nothing special. There's some fun to be had when they use people in suits for wild animal encounters. Other than that, it's fairly standard for a white person in Africa story. Maybe it'll interest you and maybe it won't.
