The Three Caballeros (1944)
Director: Norman Ferguson, Clyde Geronimi, Jack Kinney, Bill Roberts, Harold Young
Starring: Clarence Nash, José Oliveira, Joaquin Garay
Synopsis:
Donald Duck gets a birthday present from friends in Latin America that gives him a brief tour of some of the nations, peoples and cultures south of the border.
Impressions:
Meant as a bit of cultural bridge-building between the US and her neighbors to the south, this is decent enough. Don't expect much in the way of story, but the shorts are entertaining enough. You can probably get the kids to sit down with this. Animation students may be the demographic that gets the most out of it because there are a lot of experimental things the Disney animators play with that are interesting to observe, among them being ways to integrate live-action and animation. None of this is particularly benchmark-setting, but there's no harm in giving it a whirl. You might be amused by it.
