The Puppet Masters (1994)

The Puppet Masters (1994)

Director: Stuart Orme
Starring: Donald Sutherland, Eric Thal, Julie Warner

Synopsis:
Government agents investigate a UFO crash and the outbreak of alien parasites that follows.

Impressions:
As far as alien bodysnatcher movies go, this isn't the best but it isn't the worst either. I have to believe it was a bit of a casting gag getting Donald Sutherland, Keith David and Yaphet Kotto in the movie. Eric Thal isn't a great actor, which is a bit of a problem for the main character, but he seems to have been cast more for his physique than his abilities. One of my biggest problems with the movie was the stilted priorities of the characters. Heaven and earth would be moved for the main characters to recover them alive, but anyone else gets killed without blinking. Seriously, what the heck? Setting that aside, action and special effects are okay, but seeing the parasites floating around looks a bit goofy. Final word: It's decent enough, but there are better films out there, even among the narrow subgenre of alien bodysnatcher films.
