The Devil's Own (1966)

Director: Cyril Frankel
Starring: Joan Fontaine, Kay Walsh, Alec McCowen

Synopsis:
A teacher traumatized by her experiences in Africa is hired to work at a private school in a town with strange happenings.

Impressions:
This is far from the best of Hammer's output, but that's not to say it's particularly bad either. Though it can be a bit slow in places, it does a good job of building tension. The sabbat is suitably creepy and I like how the main antagonist is a true believer but one who approaches witchcraft as a science and cynically manipulates a lot of the superstitious trapping of the craft. It's the last feature film of Joan Fontaine, which should be of some interest to film buffs. For what it does interestingly, I'd say it's worth a watch.
