The Adam Project (2022)
Director: Shawn Levy
Starring: Ryan Reynolds, Walker Scobell, Mark Ruffalo
Synopsis:
A pilot from the future teams up with his past self to put an end to time travel and avert the dark timeline he comes from.
Impressions:
My parents recommended this to me, so I gave it a whirl. The short story is that if you like Ryan Reynolds and his general schtick, you'll like this movie. I have to credit Walker Scobell for doing a good job of pretty well being a miniature Ryan Reynolds, who really helps sell the "my future self and me" plot. There are certain elements that feel almost obligatory given the writing of modern films, but it never gets too obtrusive, so I personally am inclined to overlook those bits and just enjoy this for what it is. There's some decent action and character work. It's not an incredibly deep film, but I think the average filmgoer will find it worth a watch.
