Taste the Blood of Dracula (1970)
Director: Peter Sasdy
Starring: Christopher Lee, Linda Hayden, Geoffrey Keen
Synopsis:
A trio of gentlemen seeking new and exotic experiences unwittingly trigger the revival Count Dracula.
Impressions:
There's almost a Hellraiser vibe to this film, with our trio of decadent hypocrites plumbing the depths of depravity in search of new heights of pleasure, only for it to go awry when they unlock dark powers beyond their control. It becomes more of a stock revenge story after Dracula's revival. It would've been nice if they played with the initial setup more and Dracula acted as a tempter driving the trio to greater extremes until they self-destruct, but Hammer films never go that cerebral. Generally speaking, though, this is one of the better sequels in the Hammer Dracula series. Give it a watch.
