Impressions:
So we've got another Misfit of Demon Academy knockoff. I wasn't expecting Ard Meteor to take the crown of Anos Voldigoad, but I was at least expecting it to be better than last season's Shikkakumon. At first, I thought I'd be right. Ard has slightly more personality than Matthias and Ireena and Ginny seemed to be more interesting than whoever the two bland waifus of Shikkakumon were. However, things quickly went downhill. First off, the premise in the title is a blatant lie. Ard is by no means a "typical nobody". His parents are world-saving heroes and though initially far less powerful than his original incarnation, the world's magic level has declined to the point where he's still the strongest being in the world. Then when it comes to the waifus, at first, Ireena actually seemed to be close to Ard in power level and an analog to Varvatos' lost love Lydia (if not her reincarnation), but she quickly loses relevance on the battlefield and I started to find her really grating (both in terms of her personality and her voice). Ginny wore out her welcome fairly quickly as well and I never liked Sylphy from the start. (At least in Shikkakumon, Waifu #3 Iris was actually close to being a decent character.) I will at least credit the last arc of the season being a little intriguing, but the finale was on the weak side, sealing my overall disappointment. I suppose in the end, it was still better than Shikkakumon, but still not worth seeing. Pass on this. Anos continues to reign unopposed.
