Impressions:
This series had an interesting premise and I liked the imaginary conversations between Mitsuha and her otaku brother (voiced by Jun Fukuyama, no less), which had some interesting takes on the conventional morality you find in such stories. However, the typical problems of isekai stories soon rear their ugly heads to sap any potential interest right out of the story. It's all just too daggone easy. There's little real conflict or struggle, so it's hard to get too invested in the plot as it unfolds. We get a few hints of things like culture clashes, business rivalry and political intrigue, but it all gets wrapped up with little effort. Also, those conversations with Mitsuha's brother fade out midway in (only to make a bit of a return at the end), taking away another point of interest. It's a shame, because this could have been something more. At best, it's some mid-level viewing that at least has some good character designs (and Show Hayami voicing the king). I can't give it much of a recommendation, though. Take it or leave it.
