[七つの魔剣が支配する]

Synopsis:
Intense rivalries, political intrigue and dangerous experimentation make life perilous for a group of new students at a magic academy.
Impressions:
Calling this series "anime Harry Potter" is a bit reductive, but parallels can be drawn and the author himself pitches the series as "Harry Potter if it wasn't a kids' book". I did appreciate how the core quintet was established rather efficiently and there was enough mystery to draw me in at first, but as the story progressed, I found myself being less and less engaged. As this adaptation is only scratching the surface of a book series that is currently 12 books and counting, I suppose that it's little surprise that the main revenge plot with Oliver doesn't get past the first step, but what we get instead don't have nearly as much pull. I'll credit this for being more competent than not, but I don't know if it will be able to hold the average viewer's attention any more than it did for me. As such, I'll say take it or leave it.
