Dracula 2000 (2000)

Dracula 2000 (2000)

Director: Patrick Lussier
Starring: Gerard Butler, Justine Waddell, Jonny Lee Miller

Synopsis:
A group of thieves steal a coffin from the Van Helsing private collection that contains Dracula himself and unleash him on modern-day New Orleans.

Impressions:
I originally saw this movie not long after it hit the DVD circuit, one of my battle buddy's many acquisitions from the PX. (I saw more movies that way.) Upon rewatching it, my opinion of it isn't much changed. It's a decent enough modern vampire flick with a neat little gimmick for Dracula's origin. This is Gerard Butler's first big role and he really does a good job at delivering vigor and sex appeal to the title role. Also look for Nathan Fillion as Mary's friend and confessor Father David. Christopher Plummer is pretty good as Van Helsing, but I wasn't that fond of the two leads. There's some decent action and as I said before, the gimmick behind Dracula is kinda neat. If you're a fan of vampire fiction, this isn't a bad choice. Give it a watch.
