Day of the Dead (2008)

The Army locks down a small town stricken by a viral outbreak.

Impressions:
While the previous two remakes of the Dead series were solid modern updates of the originals, this in-name-only remake of the third film is complete garbage. I wasn't that big of a fan of the original and this is even worse. It relies on a lot of stupid for the plot to work and I found it really dumb that people would instantaneously transform into rotting corpses the moment they turned. There's ridiculous overcranking to make the zombies look faster and frickin' ceiling crawling in some places. About the only thing I'll give the movie credit for is the fact that Mena Suvari keeps her dang hair up, one of the few instances of compliance with uniform regulations. All the fuss about Humvee keys should be good for a laugh if nothing else. There's no reason whatsoever to see this, so unless you just really want to see a bad movie, skip it.
