Whisper Me a Love Song (2024)

Director: Akira Mano

Synopsis:
An energetic girl becomes enamored with a vocalist/guitarist, but her confused feelings put both of them on an emotional rollercoaster.

Impressions:
I'd heard a lot of people speak highly of this series from the original manga and the character designs looked appealing, which was enough to get my foot in the door. The comedic misunderstandings that kick off Himari and Yori's relationship are fairly amusing and they develop into a cute couple. If you like music-based series, that'll boost your enjoyment and if you like to see sparks fly, all the drama that develops around the romantic knot of a world seemingly populated solely by lesbians may entertain. It does get a bit overly melodramatic, but I think that's par for the course for a story like this. There were a lot of production issues, which led to some significant delays, and I think a lot of manga fans ended up being disappointed. I thought it was decent, all things considered, but I wouldn't quite call it a must-see. Take it or leave it.
