Impressions:
I know the fires are cooling for a lot of fans of the series and I admit to being counted in that number. I'm still interested in seeing how things play out, but in the absence of an actual challenge for Ains (and him basically being led around by the nose by his subordinates), it's hard to feel too invested. I had some hopes for Jircniv, but he fell short of the mark and this season is mostly just the Re-Estize Kingdom getting set up for failure so that they can be made an example of. We do see some signs of a potential challenge emerging and the possibility of other players entering into the picture, but I'm not going to get too excited just yet. There are some nice moments and I think there may be just enough to keep fans going. Perhaps by virtue of airing next to the far more underwhelming Vermeil, this looks more favorable by comparison, enough for me to recommend giving it a watch.
