Impressions:
I'm glad I came late to the game. My sympathies to the fans who were left on the Season 2 cliffhanger and had to wait five years to follow up on it. For those of you who didn't like Season 2's turn to drama, that's where we are now. There are some lighter moments to give us the occasional breather at least. Where I wasn't all that fond of Yukino becoming more passive in the second season, now she gets pushed off to the side for a significant chunk of time, which leads to an imbalance between her and Yui, which hampers the emotional payoffs at the end. Shoot, even Iroha seems to get more substantial development with Hachiman. That being said, I was more or less satisfied by the end. Apparently some of my complaints are issues of adaptation, but I have yet to peruse the original source for myself. Much as with the second season, I'm quite happy to recommend this for a watch and if you're actually a fan of the heavier drama focus in the story, you may well want to add it to your collection.
