One Punch Man - Season 2 (2019)

Director: Chikara Sakurai
Studio: JC Staff
Starring: Makoto Furukawa, Kaito Ishikawa, Hikaru Midorikawa

Synopsis:
As the Hero Association becomes increasingly desperate for manpower to meet the threats to the world, it faces the twin threats of the emergent Monster Association and a self-styled human monster calling himself the Hero Hunter.

Impressions:
There are two main factors that are going to determine your enjoyment level for this season: how invested you are in the character of Garou and how much you can tolerate the dip in production values now that the series is being handled by JC Staff instead of Madhouse. The latter has been a sticking point with a lot of fans. It's also worth noting that the section of the manga covered here has met with mixed reviews. If you find the Tournament Arc to be nothing more than a distraction from the more compelling plotline involving the Monster Association, it may grate a bit. For me, the payoff of the Tournament Arc was something I praised quite highly in the manga and I thought they did a decent enough job of doing it justice here. Overall, though, this isn't nearly as strong as the first season, but if you're a fan, I still think you'll find it worth watching.
