Impressions:
I've heard good things about this, especially in light of less well-thought takes on the multiverse that have recently graced the silver screen. I like Michelle Yeoh and I was intrigued to see Key Huy Quan's return to acting. The way the multiverse operates here is interesting, and the odd triggers for 'verse jumping provides a major component of the absurdist humor. At the heart of the story is a middle-aged woman coming to terms with the decisions she's made in her life and finding a way to accept her daughter for who she is with familiar elements of culture clash and the generational divide. It can be difficult to balance comedy and drama well, but it's done well here without either undercutting the other. There are also some nice action set pieces, making for an all-around enjoyable packages that I would argue is one of the better films of the year. Give it a watch at the very least. Maybe even afford it a slot in your collection.
