Thor: The Dark World (2013)
Director: Alan Taylor
Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston
Synopsis:
Thor must combat an ancient enemy of Asgard's while finding a way to save Jane Foster from a great power that has fused with her body and threatens to kill her.
Impressions:
This movie, like its predecessor is a good but not great comic book movie. While there are some elements I prefer about the first movie, this is still a good continuation of Thor's story and the larger goings-on in the MCU. It's really nice to see how far Thor has come as a character and I like the further exploration of the Thor-Loki dynamic. All due credit to Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston for their performances. The rest of the cast do fine, but I want to give note to Kat Dennings as Darcy. If her schtick amuses you, there's definitely more of it to be had. Effects and action sequences are good as you'd expect from an MCU entry. As I said in the beginning, while it may not be a superlative movie, it's still a good one and watchable. Particularly if you like MCU Thor, you should be satisfied with this. The coat rack is worthy.
