Taken 2 (2012)
Director: Oliver Megaton
Starring: Liam Neeson, Famke Janssen, Maggie Grace
Synopsis:
While Bryan Mills is wrapping up a protection detail in Istanbul, he gets a surprise visit from his daughter and ex-wife, but they are not the only ones with a surprise in store for him. The families of the human traffickers he killed are there looking for revenge.
Impressions:
I really didn't think a sequel was necessary for Taken, but with its success, I guess it's little surprise a sequel was made. While inferior to the original, it's still a pretty good action film. I like how Kim is given more of active role this time around, proving that she is her father's daughter. There's some soft-serving of the violence because of the PG-13 rating, but there's not much disappointment to be had in the action set pieces. The mano-a-mano between Bryan and the heavy played by stunt coordinator Alain Figlarz is one of the highlights. Whereas the rival fight in the first movie was against a younger opponent, here it's against someone about the same age, effectively Bryan's Albanian counterpart. If you liked the first movie, you should like this well enough. I recommend giving it a watch.
