Impressions:
From the trailers, I figured this was going to be a mixed bag, so I wasn't that eager to see it. I mean, I was going to give it a watch eventually; I just wasn't that interested in putting any money down for it. My gut assessment was ultimately proven correct. There's some good and some less than good, but I will say there wasn't anything that really annoyed me like Man of Steel or Batman v. Superman did. I rather liked Will Smith as Deadshot and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, and Viola Davis was solid as Amanda Waller. I was one of the many voices in the chorus mocking "Hot Topic Joker", but even though I'm not entirely sold on the appearance of Jared Leto's Joker, he brings a lot of intensity to the role and I consider it a pretty good take on the character. The rest of the cast generally ranged from okay to mediocre or were too underutilized for me to tell. The story's okay but not amazing. There are some pretty good set pieces, but the uneven character development hampers your investment. I'm willing to see what they do with the sequel. It's well enough worth watching, but don't get your hopes up too much.
