The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 (2015)

Director: Francis Lawrence
Starring: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth

Synopsis:
As the rebels prepare to move on the Capitol, Katniss plans to assassinate President Snow.

Impressions:
The Hunger Games series ends on a strong note. I liked the element of Katniss being propped up as a propaganda tool in the previous film and it carries through here as well. My distrust of the rebels gets borne out here and most savvy viewers will be able to see the twists coming. Peeta's struggle with his programming is a good part of the story and the conflict in that is actually more compelling than the battle itself. By the by, my OTP didn't come to fruition, which I'm not terribly happy about, but what can ya do? (I would've settled for an OT3.) Though her screentime was brief, Johanna remains a delight and Donald Sutherland was pretty entertaining for Snow on short time. Fans of the series are going to want to see it through to the end anyway, but even on its own merits as a standalone film, it's worth a watch.
