Hellraiser: Judgment (2018)
Director: Gary J Tunnicliffe
Starring: Damon Carney, Randy Wayne, Alexandra Harris
Synopsis:
A trio of detectives on the hunt for a serial killer cross paths with the sinister machinations of the Cenobites.
Impressions:
I'd heard they were taking another crack at the Hellraiser franchise and because this didn't look like quite as much garbage as Hellraiser: Revelations, I thought I'd give it a try. I'll be honest with you, though some elements of the plot resemble Hellraiser 5, which I didn't like that much, this is arguably the best film in the series since Hellraiser II. Usually, when you see one person wearing too many hats on a film, it's not a recipe for good things, but writer/director Gary J Tunnicliffe's role as the Auditor is quite entertaining. The idea of an infernal bureaucracy is interesting and I particularly like what happens when a particular character gets processed. I wasn't a big fan of the twist at the end and while Paul T Taylor is decent as Pinhead, he's no Doug Bradley and the character seemed largely incidental to the story here.
