Impressions:
It's a wonder it took me so long to watch this one. It's been on my radar ever since it came out. I didn't realize it was directed by Roland Emmerich, you know, before he started making all those terrible ham-fisted disaster flicks. It's a decent movie that banks on the action chops of Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lungdren. It certainly doesn't disappoint in this regard with some rather good action set pieces. What surprised me was Lungdren's capacity to be such a glorious ham. (*Spoiler alert* The movie kicks off when both Van Damme and Lungdren's characters break free of their programming, causing them to revert to their pre-death personalities.) He's easily the most entertaining part of the film. While I wouldn't put it up there at the top of the list of 90s action films, it's worth watching all the same.
