The Corruptor (1999)

The Corruptor (1999)

Director: James Foley
Starring: Chow Yun-fat, Mark Wahlberg, Ric Young

Synopsis:
A white rookie is assigned to the NYPD's Asian Gang Unit in the middle of a war between the Tongs and an upstart Fukienese gang.

Impressions:
I've commented before that I'm intrigued by stories that blur the line between law and lawlessness. This is one such story and I liked seeing Chow Yun-fat as a morally grey cop playing both sides and Mark Wahlberg as the rookie whose morals are being tested. There's plenty of good action, to the point that some have mistaken this for a John Woo flick. If you like this kind of movie, it's pretty good stuff. Give it a watch, gwailo.
