Impressions:
This isn't a very good movie. No, scratch that. It wouldn't be a good movie if it wasn't for Nic Cage totally breaking the Nic Cage barrier. If you like to see Nic Cage at his craziest, this is the movie for you. He wigs out gloriously (and sometimes terrifyingly) and in his calmer moments has this ridiculously affected accent that seems better suited for a cartoon. Actually, you know what? That's exactly what Cage is in this, a live action cartoon character (albeit very much an R-rated one). If that notion appeals to you, you'll enjoy this movie. With Cage overshadowing everything, it's easy to lose track of the rest of the cast, but I will at least note that Maria Conchita Alonso makes a good foil as Cage's hapless secretary. It takes a pretty dark turn in the third act, which may be a turn-off for some viewers, but if you think you can handle it, give this one a watch.
